Our presentation wasn't as good as we had thought because we were a little nervous. Belkıs was the first presenter and he made a good enter. Actually, we made a small change on uor lesson plan in the last minute. According to our lesson plan, we were to start the lesson with the classical question "how are you? How was your weekend?" Then we decided to be a little original:) and we asked "Do you like cooking?" Another change on our lesson plan was about the problem which belkıs had made during her cooking the terrible meal. we had decided to say " the problem was that I abstractedly add sugar instead of salt, I realized it later" However, while we were watching the video, we realized that in the receipt there are both sugar and salt:) Then we changed it with cooking bake.
ReplyDeleteWe wanted to make the writing activity creative, so I used cards and heart box. I am so pleased that my frends enjoyed the activity. However, I forget to open the ppt in which there were possible unknown words. It was a great faulth for me, because it was an important part of our lesson. ıf one student in the class hadn't ask the meaning of one word, I may have forgotten to open. Vocabulary teaching would have been absent.
Also, our video was a little obscure and beyond the level of students as Ikbal said during the discussion session. In fact, we realized it. too. However, we thought that the thing which we want form the students was their understanding only the ingredients, so they could catch these words because ingredients were written also as subtitle and they can be seen as visual. We ignored the fact that students would be bored with the video which they couldn't understand.
In addition, feedback session after the writing activity would be longer. Verbally, the students may not want to speak in the class. However, if I would have wanted them to give a written feedback, It would be more beneficial. Also, writing the paragraph on an acetate and showing it with the projector would be more attention grabbing and clourfull.
as a pair, I can bravely say that we did our best. but there is one point that I did not like much about myself. I could not calculate the time for the enter which I made so my speech lasted less than I thought. except for that point, it went properly thanks to our creative students. We conducted the lesson according to our plan.
ReplyDeletewhile planning we did not have so much difficulty because I think the most difficult and important point during the preparation is to find what to do and which activity to use. when you get these objectives and other thing come accordingly.
because of the classroom environment, there might problems in seeing the scene but except for that there was no problem with technology.
we are happy to see that the students enjoy themselves as our aim is already this, we think that we had a different writing lesson.
I think this time our presentation was not very bad. However we had some mistakes. For instance the video was not clear or easy enough for intermediate students. The student participation was good. They seemed to be interested in the lesson and the activities. Especially giving the materials of the meal the recipe of which they will write was a good idea and they liked it. Also we used some pictures to help students learn the meaning of unknown words. It was also found good by our friends. In short there was not a problem with the lesson plan, materials or the activities. However, I was really nervous (as always) and so I couldn’t pay attention to my gestures or mimics. Therefore I couldn’t give the exact message that I should give at the beginning of the lesson. I mean, in the lead-in part while I was asking students what the problem in my meal was I could have seemed a bit angry or confused because of my meal’s tasting awful. But because of my over nervousness my face was emotionless and I didn’t even smile. I think it was a big problem because if a teacher does the same thing in a real class, the students will easily understand that I made up a story and my lesson will not be enjoyable at all. Other than this, I didn’t make a big mistake I think. My partner Vildan was very successful because she was not as nervous as me (how lucky she is). So, in general our lesson was neither perfect, nor terrible. It was something in between:)

ReplyDeleteAfter a tiring day and enjoyable presentation, here I am again to comment on my own performance :) Firstly, and the most importantly, I start to feel like a real teacher now, rather than a student who try to act as if she was a teacher. I feel much more comfortable and I enjoy what I am doing during my presentation.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, now I have an idea about how to teach reading, writing or the other skills which feels me more confident than before.
Thirdly, I realize that I really love to teach English which gives me the enthısiasm for my job.
To sum up, in this last integrated presentation I realize my potential to teach and how much I learned from my teachers and my friends. I learn to write a lesson plan, design a lesson, interact with students, arrange my time and plan and use my materials effectively. To practice what I learned, these presentation is the best opportunity.
for our presentation, I can say that it was better than our reading presentation. We were not so much excited. I know that our friends did not like the comprehension question parts because it was a bit tiring. But I want to remind that the presentation was prepared for fourth grade students. We tried to integrate skills as many as possible.I think we were good at doing that. However, we had some clear pronunciation mistakes. As a positive aspect, we were friendly to our so-called students. I believe that is very important to make them actively participated in the lesson. Another point is that role-play part was easier in the real fourt grade class:) they were much more volunteer.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion, I liked our presentation in general with its negative and positive aspects together:)
ı can say that we did our best although we have some negative aspects. ı really likes our video and the activities were related to the video and the comprehension questions maybe too easy but, they were for the beginner level. the video was very enjoyable and each one liked it. the animals in the video were cute. our writing activity was also a creative one and the working in groups is enjoyabla and effective, ı think. we are more relax than the reading presentation, we did our best, but in my part, there was a problem in the the comprehension questions, ı could not know what to do, because the order of a question was false, there should not be such a mistake, but generally we did our best and ı think we were good:)
ReplyDeleteDears and Peers, as all of you feel, I feel the same appreciation of completing the whole semester with success. Thanks for your contributions to class session. In my final Writing Presentation, I found myself quiet successful. I was relxed enough to concentrate on my job. I was fluent in my speaking. I connected to students tightly. I conveyed the target message. The session smoothly passed. I was satisfied with my work. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI can say that we were better while rehearsing. Everything didn’t go as we planned, but I think it was good anyway. We did our best as our friends did. Some parts of activities were just spontaneous. I think both me and Bahar were better than we were in reading presentation. There were some little defects. We were more relaxed. Thanks to these presentations, I learned a lot. I learned how to do a reading and writing lesson. We learned more creative techniques apart from classic techniques. I think our and our friends presentations will be helpful to me and to my friend in our future teaching life:)

ReplyDeleteI liked our presentation's theory part but in practice, I was not in my best mood and performance. After watching the reading records, I realized that even though I felt that I was doing good, I found out that we were very boring and I was not fluent enough. I did not like my pronunciation, too. So all of these made me nervous and I did even worse in writing. But our ideas to integrate unfamiliar words with their pictures and a sample sentence is a good one. We all know that with pictures, vocabulary is more effective and permanent. The more senses you appeal, the more effective learning is. Video was a good idea to increase attention but its quality was not good enough and I regret not having recorded it with a better camera but it was all we had. Matching activity was a good way to go through the words. It was short and not boring. We did not ask students to write with using the new vocabulary, I wish we did. We made them read aloud their passage for speaking practice and it was good, too. After, for everyone to see each other's work and to see and learn from others' mistakes, we applied peer review and we ended up very nice comments and feedback. We could ask each group to talk about their mistakes and corrections but it could be offensive and embarrassing. We were hesitant about it so we decided not to do it. I think in theory, we did good but it could be better.
ReplyDeleteI think our presentation was a good one. I felt more confident and more accurate than reading presentation, because we had seen many examples untill that time and the first presentation’s experienced gained us many things. While preparing the presentation and the lesson plan, we came together with the group members; İkbal, Ahmet and me and ate a dinner. After the dinner we had an idea to to make student write recipe. And we discussed about the materials and activities then we were agree with making our materials as our own, filming a recipe process. It would be an authentic material and it would be enjoyable. And ıt happened so. We were relaxed during the presentation. In the last part, peer feedback and evaluation part was also good I think. By this way the students can see their friends’ ideas and they would have a chance to see their mistakes.
ReplyDeleteWhen we think about our writing presentation we can say that it was a good one, everything was well prepared. We have work on it carefully. Recording our own video was good idea, we thought it would be an authentic material but there was a problem with the camera, as we didn’t have a good video camera, we had to use mobile phone. So there was a problem with the visual and audio quality. Nevertheless in theory it was a good idea. We prepared our lesson plan, so we didn’t have any difficulty in the flow of lesson. I can say that our presentation was an integrated one. Listening, reading, writing, vocabulary etc was all integrated in this presentation. Showing pictures and writing example sentences for unknown vocabulary is maybe a classical way but it is a good way. We applied peer correction; I believe that this technique is very beneficial for students, they can see their own mistakes and their friends mistakes. If I had a chance to change our presentation, I would change the writing section. Because we wanted students to write a recipe they want, we could have given some new words and want students write a recipe using those words. By doing so, we can improve students’ creativity.
ReplyDeleteI think it was good although it includes some deficiency. We prepared well with Uğur and it became good compared to previous one.
ReplyDeleteWhen I compare our first presentation with the second one, I can openly say that the scond presentation was better, because in the second presentation we were more relaxed and the instructions we gave were more clear. In the first presentation I didn't know what to do when the students were on task. However, in this presentation I observed the students more carefully, and there wasn't any time I didn't know what to do. The use of language was also a bit better, I believe. The students participated in the lesson and seemed to enjoy the lesson. We integrated writing with speaking and the visual aids. The students didn't know what to do at the beginning and then they understood what to do.
ReplyDeleteIn the preparation stage we tried to find a topic, which was both interesting and enjoyable. We thought of watching a video and then came up with the idea of showing a video without sound and then wanting the students to write the lines for the video. The acting out would also make the presentation more enjoyable and we know that it requires creativity and helps to combine writing skills with speaking.
